Tutors - Simon Hardacre

Simon Hardacre is Birch Music School's guitar tutor. Simon's interest in music stems from his school days, playing a range of instruments for his own pleasure. At the age of 16 Simon made the transition into specialising exclusively in guitar.

Simon worked through his Rockschool Grades whilst simultaneously studying a Performing Musician course at Blackburn College. Simon's dedication and enthusiasm led him to be presented with a special award of achievement on the completion of his studies. Going from strength to strength, Simon made music his career choice and enrolled at the prestigious Guitar Institute in London.

Having been in London for only a few weeks Simon was asked to join an established band. Drawing on the knowledge he gained from some of the best teachers in Europe at the Guitar Institute, he proceeded to build on the band's reputation. Some of the band's achievements included having the band's music played in one of London's hottest rock clubs, going on a tour of the UK and negotiating a contract with a professional management company.

During this time Simon also embarked on the start of a successful tutoring career, teaching privately from his home in London. His students ranged from beginners through to the advanced players wishing to fine tune their skills and performance technique. Simon has a wealth of experience guiding his students through a wide range of musical genres including Rock, Pop, Blues and Funk to name just a few.

Now Simon has decided to return to his roots to share his knowledge and experience with the musicians of Lancashire. Simon formalised his skills by taking ABRSM Theory Grade 5 and Rockschool Grade 8, achieving distinctions in both and not long after joined the team of highly skilled musicians at Birch Music School.
